CRAB CREEK, MASON COUNTY, WV

Directions:  Crab Creek, Mason County, WV, enters the Ohio River about three miles north of Byrd Locks and Dam.  It can be accessed from State Route 2 at Shady Waters Campground.  Permission should be obtained from campsite owners when on their property.

Description:  The site consists of grassland with a pond, hardwoods along the Ohio River and creek banks, and backwaters.  A variety of waterfowl and herons can be found in winter and migratory periods.  Large concentrations of swallow species are often found from mid-July to early September.
