Bewick's Wren Thryomanes bewickii
WINTER: Considered a Rare Resident prior to the 1950's (Edeburn et al. 1960), this species is currently absent from our area. See Remarks section.
SUMMER: Rare Resident prior to the 1950's (Edeburn et al. 1960). Last known record 13 June 1952 near Ferguson, Wayne Co., WV (JHA) (Heimerdinger 1952).
MIGRATION:
Spring: Rare Migrant in late March and early April (Edeburn et al. 1960).
Fall: Data Insufficient.
REMARKS:
Edeburn et al. (1960) called this species a rare permanent resident, but noted significant population declines in the 1950's. As noted by Kiff et al. (1986) it was considered rare by the 1930's in many parts of the state (Wetmore 1937). There were records on the Huntington CBC from 1951 to 1957 and the Ona CBC in 1963 and 1984.
