WINTER: NO RECORDS.
SUMMER: Casual Resident prior to the mid-1990's. Currently, a locally Rare Resident. Uncommon to Fairly Common Resident at Crown City WA in some years. See Remarks section.
MIGRATION:
Spring: Rare Migrant during May. Early dates, 03 May 1958 (Edeburn et al. 1960); 09 May 1998 (WA, JF, MG).
Fall: Casual Migrant from late September into October. Early dates, one banded (LK) on 27 September 1963; 04 October 1951 (Edeburn et al. 1960). Late date, HY-U collected (RK) on 13 November 1963 (Handley 1976).
REMARKS:
Nesting: Dickcissel were found nesting in 1938 at Gallipolis Ferry, Mason Co., WV (Haller 1939, 1940). Several nesting pairs were noted on 27 May 1956 at Mercer's Bottom, Mason County, WV (HKL, HCL, TM) (Edeburn et al. 1960). There were no records of nesting from 1956 to the mid-1990's. From 1996, although no nests have been documented, singing males have been found in Cabell and Mason Counties, WV and Gallia Co., OH.
