MIGRATION:

 Spring:  Uncommon to Common Migrant from late April to late May.  Early dates, one on 07 April 2003 at Byrd Locks & Dam (WA, JB); two on 17 April 2002 at Byrd Locks & Dam (WA); one on 23 April 2005 at Crab Creek, Mason Co., WV (WA, MG); four on 26 April 2003 at Byrd Locks & Dam (WA, MG, MO).  Late records, eight on 28 May 2008 at Byrd Locks & Dam (WA, MG); one on 26 May 2006 at Kyger Creek Power Plant (HS); one on 22 and 24 May 2003 at Byrd Locks & Dam (WA, JB, DP, HS); thirty three (21 at Byrd Locks & Dam, 12 at Green Bottom WMA) on 23 May 2006 (MG); three on 22 May 2006 at Byrd Locks & Dam (WA, MG).   See Remarks section for high counts.

 Fall:  Casual Migrant in September.  One on 01 September 2005 at Byrd Locks & Dam (WA); three on 17 September 1972 at Kyger Creek Power Plant (HS).  Uncommon to Fairly Common Migrant from early October to mid-November.  Early dates, four on 08 October 2005 at Byrd Locks & Dam (WA, MG, DP); three on 09 October 1970 (HS), four on 09 October 1972 (HS), and one on 09 and 10 October1992 (WA) at Kyger Creek Power Plant.  Late dates, two on 20 November 2004 at Ashton, Mason Co., WV; eleven on 16 November 1991 at Apple Grove, Mason Co., WV (WA, JF, MG, SS); one on 12 November 2003 at Byrd Locks & Dam (WA, MG); one on 11 November 1969 at Kyger Creek Power Plant (HS).  Dunlin had the highest "Index of Abundance", during October and November, of any sandpiper at Kyger Creek Power Plant (Slack 1978).  See Remarks section for high counts.
