Killdeer  Charadrius vociferus

WINTER:  Uncommon to Fairly Common Resident.  Common to Very Common during mild winters.  See Remarks section for CBC data.

SUMMER:  Common to Very Common Resident.  See Remarks section.

MIGRATION:

 Spring: Fairly Common to Common Migrant from late February through March (Slack 1978).

 Fall:  Common to Very Common Migrant from September to November, with peak numbers occurring from October into November (Slack 1978).  See Remarks section for high counts.

REMARKS:

Nesting:  Early Egg Dates:  Full clutches of 4 eggs:  24 March; 30 March (2); 31 March (Slack 1986).  Late Egg Dates:  4 eggs on 18 June; 2 eggs on 09 July.  Age Local:  11 April and 13 April (Slack 1986).

Fall High Counts:  Flocks exceeding 100 can be found from mid-July through November.  280 on 09 November at Kyger Creek Power Plant (Slack 1986).
