SUMMER: Uncommon to Fairly Common Migrant in late July and August. Early dates, one on 13 July 2005 at Gavin Power Plant (WA, MG, HS); three on 16 July 2004 at Gavin Power Plant (WA, MG); five on 25 July 1976 (HS) and two on 25 July 1987 (WA, MG) at Kyger Creek Power Plant. MIGRATION:
Spring: Fairly Common to Common Migrant from late March to mid-May. Early dates: 21 March 1954 (Edeburn et al. 1960); three on 26 March 2002 at Crab Creek, Mason Co., WV (WA); one on 27 March 2004 at Byrd Locks & Dam (WA, JF, MG); one on 30 March 1991 at Lakin, Mason Co., WV (MG). Late dates, two on 29 May 2005 at Byrd Locks & Dam (WA, MG, DP); one on 28 May (WA, MG) and two on 26 May (WA, MG) 2008 at Byrd Locks & Dam; four on 23 May 2006 at Byrd Locks & Dam (MG); 22 May 1954 (Edeburn et al. 1960). Peterjohn (2001) noted Greater Yellowlegs arrive earlier and leave later versus Lesser Yellowlegs during migration in Ohio. Our records show the same trend.
