WINTER: Casual Visitant. Eleven records: One on 01 December 2009 at Lavalette, Wayne Co., WV (GR); one on 14 December 2008 (Huntington CBC); one on 15 December 2002 (Ona CBC); one on 16 December 1996 at Lavalette, Wayne Co., WV (GR); one on 19 December 1999 at Barboursville, Cabell Co., WV. (WA, JF, MG) (Huntington CBC); one on 28 December 2005 at Barboursville, Cabell Co., WV (WA) (Huntington CBC); one on 30 December 1951 (ES) (Huntington CBC) about five miles east of Huntington, WV (Edeburn et al. 1960); one on 02 January 2000 near Green Bottom WMA (BD, JH, JLH GR) (Ona CBC) and one on 02 January 2012 at Sugarwood Golf Course, Wayne Co., WV (GR, et al., Huntington CBC); one on 04 January 2004 at Barboursville, Cabell Co., WV (WA) (Huntington CBC); one found dead on 03 February 1991 at Mercer's Bottom, Mason County, WV (WA). Specimen deposited with Western Foundation of Vertebrate Zoology.
SUMMER: NO RECORDS.
MIGRATION:
Spring: NO RECORDS. See Winter section for 03 February 1991 record which may represent a migrant bird.
Fall: Accidental. One on 16 October 2009 at Huntington (East Pea Ridge), WV (WA); one on 30 October 2009 at Lavalette, Wayne Co., WV (GR).
REMARKS:
Nesting: There is a possible nesting record in Mason County, however, it is not well documented (Haller 1940, Hall 1983, Kiff et al 1986).
