SUMMER:  Abundant Resident.

MIGRATION:

 Spring:  Fairly Common to Common Migrant in late February and early March (Hall 1983, Kiff et al. 1986). 

  Fall:  Common Migrant (Kiff et al. 1986).  Hall (1983) notes migrants occur in October.  Peterjohn (2001) indicates migrants occurring in late July and early August in Ohio.

Breeding Bird Survey (Bullard 2003): Cabwaylingo State Forest, Wayne Co., WV (2002): 135 Stops (7 surveys), 64 Mile. Number of Stops Recorded: 24. Total Birds: 37.

Breeding Bird Survey (Koch and Hurley 1972): Beech Fork Lake, Wayne Co., WV (29 May 1969): 50 Stops, 25 Mile. Number of Stops Recorded: 6. Total Birds: 13.

Breeding Bird Survey (Koch 1974): McClintic WMA, Mason Co., WV (29 May 1971): 50 Stops, 12.25 Mile. Number of Stops Recorded: 18. Total Birds: 23.

Banding Data:  HY-U banded (Slack) on 06 May 1979 at Huntington, WV, shot by hunter on 08 September 1982 at Point Pleasant, WV.
