MIGRATION:

 Spring:  Fairly Common Migrant from late April to early May.  Early dates, 13 April 1952 (Edeburn et al. 1960); 18 April 2004 (HS); 19 April 1996 (HS) and 2008 (MG, DP); 20 April 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2008 (HS).

REMARKS:

Breeding Bird Survey (Koch and Hurley 1972): Beech Fork Lake, Wayne, Co., WV (29 May 1969): 50 Stops, 25 Mile. Number of Stops Recorded: 2. Total Birds: 4.

Breeding Bird Survey (Koch 1974): McClintic WMA, Mason Co., WV (29 May 1971): 50 Stops, 12.25 Mile. Number of Stops Recorded: 2. Total Birds: 2.

Breeding Bird Survey (Bullard 2003): Cabwaylingo State Forest, Wayne Co., WV (2002): 135 Stops (7 surveys), 64 Mile. Number of Stops Recorded: 6. Total Birds: 6.

Post Nesting Migration:  Resident birds depart our area from late June (HS) to mid-July (Edeburn et al. 1960).  Rare Migrant to mid-August (Kiff et al. 1986).  Late date, 25 August 1974 (HS).
