MIGRATION:

 Spring:  Casual Migrant during March and April.

 Fall:  Casual Migrant from late September to late October.

REMARKS:

Haller (1940) considered this species more "common" than the Red-bellied Woodpecker.  Populations began declining after the 1960's (Kiff et al. 1986) and are at present found in few localities.
