REMARKS:
The WVDNR introduced this species at McClintic WMA in the 1950's. While they bred successfully for several years, the population failed to become permanently established (Hall 1983, Kiff et al. 1986). In Ohio, the primary range of this species is located in the northern parts of the state. In the 2000-2001 hunting season an estimated 52,929 wild Ring-necked Pheasant were harvested in Ohio (Ohio Division of Wildlife 2001).
