WINTER: Accidental. One on 05 January and 06 January 1997 at Byrd Locks & Dam (WA, KP, GR). Second state record for WV (Argabrite et al. 1997). One (white phase) on 15 February 2001 at Green Bottom WMA (photographed, MG) remained until 16 March 2001 (See Spring records). See Remarks section for Mid-Winter Aerial Survey data.
SUMMER: NO RECORDS.
MIGRATION:
Spring: Accidental. One on 11 March and 12 March 1999 at Lavalette, Wayne County, WV (photographed, WA, MG, GR). Third state record for WV (Argabrite et al. 2000); one (white phase) on 11 March (WA, MF) and 16 March (WA, MG) 2001 at Green Bottom WMA; one on 03 and 04 March 2007 at Green Bottom WMA (WA, MG, DP, GR).
Fall: Accidental. One from 14 November to 19 November 1993 at Byrd Locks & Dam (Argabrite 1995c) and in croplands in Gallia Co., OH (MG), bordering the Ohio River. First state record for WV (Hall 1996). From 10 to 15 on 12 November 2003 in Mason Co., WV (WA); one on 22 November 2007 at Byrd Locks & Dam (GR).
