Northern Saw-whet Owl  Aegolius acadicus

WINTER:  Casual Visitant.  See Remarks section for CBC data.  One on 22 February 1996 (WA), at Huntington, WV, may represent a spring migrant.

SUMMER:  NO RECORDS. 

MIGRATION:

 Spring:  Accidental.   Two HY-U on 23 May 1966 at Shoals, Wayne Co., WV (RS).  Edeburn collected both birds which were deposited in the Marshall Univ. collection (Edeburn 1968) and subsequently transferred to the Stovall Museum at the University of Oklahoma.  One calling on 25 April 2011 at Lavalette, Wayne Co., WV (GR).  There are two previous recent spring records at this location (MR)..  

 Fall:  Accidental.  One on 02 November 1953 by Ned Heinish (Edeburn et al. 1960).
