Swainson's Warbler Limnothlypis swainsonii
WINTER: NO RECORDS.
SUMMER: Casual Resident. Green (1947) found a singing male on 04 May 1947 at Chesapeake, Lawrence Co., OH. This male was collected on 21 June 1947 and represents the first record for Ohio (Green 1947, Peterjohn 2001). In 1947 and 1948, Green (1949) found territorial males at Huntington, WV (Hurley 1972, Kiff et al 1986). Nesting was suspected in 1952 and 1953 in Huntington, WV (Edeburn et al. 1960). Three stations were identified on 12 June 1952 along Twelvepole Creek at Cabwaylingo State Forest (Heimerdinger 1952). There were no summer records reported until 06 June 2000 when a singing male was found at Cabwaylingo State Forest (WA, JF, MG). Rare Resident at Cabwaylingo currently. Recorded in 2002 (Eddy 2003); 2004 (MP); 2006 (JN) at Cabwaylingo State Forest.
MIGRATION:
Spring: Casual Migrant. One on 01 April 1975 (HS); one on 22 April 1948 (Edeburn et al. 1960); singing male on 16 and 21 May 2005 at Lavalette, Wayne Co., WV (GR). Also see Summer section.
Fall: NO RECORDS. Edeburn et al. (1960) cites a late date of 14 August 1956.
