SUMMER: Status uncertain. No June or July records. Three August records. One at Byrd Locks & Dam (WA, GR) and one at Addison, Gallia Co., OH (WA, LK) on 06 August 1994. 31 August 1957 at McClintic WMA (Edeburn et al. 1960). See Remarks section.
MIGRATION:
Spring: Casual Migrant from mid-April to early May. Early dates, three on 26 March 1988 at Apple Grove, Mason Co., WV (HS); two on 27 March 2004 at Ashton, Mason Co., WV (WA, JF, MG, CK, KK); 5 on 13 April 1969 at Ashton, Mason Co., WV (HS). Latest dates, two on 26 May 1958 at Crab Creek, Mason Co., WV (Edeburn et al. 1960); two on 10 May 1968 at Ona, Cabell Co., WV (LK). These records also represent spring high counts.
Fall: Accidental. One on 03 September 1997 at Byrd Locks & Dam (WA, photographed).
REMARKS:
Nesting: An adult and one "downy young" at Lakin State Hospital, Mason Co., WV, with no exact date specified (RK) (Edeburn et al. 1960).
