FLYCATCHERS

Willow Flycatcher  Empidonax traillii

WINTER:  NO RECORDS.

SUMMER:  Fairly Common to Common Resident.  See Remarks section for Alder Flycatcher.

MIGRATION:

 Spring:  Fairly Common to Common Migrant arriving from early to mid-May.  Early dates, 04 May 2003 (HS); 06 May 1998 (HS); 07 May 1997 (HS).  See Remarks section.

 Fall:  Data insufficient.  Singing males are present into late July and Empidonax spp., present on confirmed nesting sites into August, are probably Willow Flycatchers. Non-singing individuals into fall should be recorded as Trail's Flycatcher.  See Remarks section for Alder Flycatcher.

REMARKS:

Nesting:  Late date, 03 August 2003, adults feeding HY (HS).

Spring:  Records indicate the Willow Flycatcher arrives earlier in May than the Alder Flycatcher.  See Remarks section for Alder Flycatcher.
